Here we are on December 1. How will you invest the next 31 days to ensure you finish the year strong and catapult into the New Year? The choice is yours…maybe you’re going to miss your quota, revenue or profit goal, but will you call it a year and slink into a corner, or will you keep making calls and begin to set yourself up for a great 2011. If you choose the former, it has the potential of coloring your entire next year and you’ll probably get pretty much the same, but if you choose to set yourself up for success, you will have a head-start on the competition and achieving your goals in the New Year. I don’t know about you, but I plan to keep on pushing! No, I haven’t hit all of my goals this year, but it’s been a good year nonetheless and I am planning for an even bigger 2011!
With these thoughts in mind, I’ve put together a number of questions for you to consider as you wind down the year. But, before getting to the questions, let me ask you this, did you begin the year by writing the personal and business goals you wanted to achieve in 2010? If the answer is no, please take a moment to write down your top 3 goals for December and be certain to write out all of your goals for the New Year. Studies show that you will increase your rate of achievement by 1,100% when you write your goals versus merely think about them.
Now to the questions:
-
Are you maintaining a positive attitude? (This is a must!)
-
Do you have a clear vision of what you want your ideal life or your ideal business to look like in the next 3 years?
-
Are you striving for balance in all areas of your life? (Another must!)
-
Are you happier, healthier, wealthier, and wiser? If not, what are you going to do about it? (TIP: Focus on what you can control.)
-
How have you grown and what have you learned this year?
-
Is there any unfinished business that needs to be tended to in your life?
-
Are you actively pursuing what’s most important on a daily basis?
-
What habits or behaviors do you need to change to ensure better results?
-
What is the key issue (or skill) that inhibits your ability to perform at your best?
- In general, are you moving toward your goals, or away from your goals?
-
What specific goals have you achieved so this year? (Celebrate your accomplishments!)
-
What results are you committed to achieving by the end of the year and in 2011? (That goal setting stuff again!)
If this year has been a challenge for you and you’ve fallen behind on accomplishing the goals you set in January…start over today! Hit the reset button! You do not have to wait until January 1, 2011 to reset the clock and begin anew. Sit down now and take some time to work on your business (and life) instead of just working in your business. Make a plan and work your plan. Don’t let the naysayers drag you down. Choose to dream big, powerful, positive dreams and take the necessary actions to make them reality!
